Vietnam is a country of staggering contrasts: ancient temples alongside modern skyscrapers, misty mountain ranges alongside golden rice paddies, and one of the world's most diverse and delicious cuisines. On this Muslim Friendly group trip we take you through the highlights of the country, from the buzzing capital Hanoi to the timeless old town of Hội An and the emerald waters of Hạ Long Bay. All meals are halal-certified and prayer times are built into the programme.
The itinerary
Today the group departs from Amsterdam for Hanoi.
After arrival at Noi Bai International Airport you are met by a guide and taken to the hotel by private transfer. The evening is free.
A day full of history: we visit the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the former residence of President Ho Chi Minh and the iconic One Pillar Pagoda. We then pay a visit to Masjid Al-Noor, a place of prayer for local and foreign Muslims for more than 100 years. After lunch we explore the Temple of Literature, enjoy a tuk-tuk ride and visit Ngoc Son Temple on the picturesque Hoan Kiem Lake. The day ends with a traditional water puppet show.
After breakfast we travel to Tuan Chau Marina to board the Mon Cheri Cruise. During the cruise we sail past impressive limestone formations. We transfer to a traditional fishing boat and explore the bay up close. In the evening, dinner and overnight stay on board.
We wake up in the middle of a spectacular seascape. Optional activities include kayaking, swimming, cycling and a visit to the remote fishing village of Viet Hai, surrounded by the jungle of Cat Ba National Park.
After a morning on the water we return to Hanoi and fly on to Danang. On arrival we are picked up and transferred to Hoi An.
We explore Danang with a visit to the Cham Museum, Marble Mountain and Non Nuoc Beach. Back in Hoi An we enjoy a walking tour through the historic old town: the colourful market, the Tan Ky Old House, the Fukien Assembly Hall and the famous 400-year-old Japanese Covered Bridge.
After breakfast we drive to Danang airport for the flight to Ho Chi Minh City. After arrival and check-in the rest of the day is free.
A full day in the buzzing metropolis: we visit the Reunification Palace, the War Remnants Museum, Notre Dame Cathedral and the colonial Central Post Office. After lunch we explore Chinatown, the Binh Tay market and Thien Hau Temple. The highlight: a visit to the Musulman Mosque, one of the largest and best-known mosques in the city, originally built in 1935.
After breakfast, private transfer to the airport for the flight back to the Netherlands.
